San Francisco Fellows Program --Dept requests -- Fiscal Year 2016-17
The official San Francisco Fellows Program (SFF) is now launching for Fiscal Year 2016/17, and will continue to support the core elements of the City Hall Fellows program. This program places creative, forward-thinking recent College graduates in City Departments to learn about local government as they gain first-hand experience as employees. Departments request Fellows via the form below, and confirmation of sponsoring Departments will happen during the budget process, generally by the end of June 2016. These 11+ month placements provide high-quality work from motivated Fellows across City sectors, and have included placements in the Controller’s Office, Recreation and Park, Library, Municipal Transportation Agency, Airport, Public Utilities Commission, and many other City departments.
Departments are invited to submit job-descriptions to meet real needs that will help develop well-rounded employees that can support the City. Fellows receive ongoing training throughout the duration of the program through a Fellows Leadership Program curriculum that is designed to further enhance the Fellows’ understanding of City operations. Graduates of the Fellows program are highly desirable City employees, and many have been hired as regular employees after the Fellowship program.
The current Fellows come to the City with a wide range of experiences and areas of study, and examples of past Fellows projects include:
Arts Commission – Performance Measures analysis and assessment of agency data needs Airport – Expansion and development of airport concessions in the Revenue division Controller – Development of business intelligence and visual data from City departments Library – Development of a methodology to track and manage assets Municipal Transportation Agency – Support for the capital program and dept. cultural change Public Utilities Commission – Analysis of the feasibility of increase bio-gas fuel Public Works- Improvement and support for public works performance measures review Recreation & Park – Training program redesign Treasurer/Tax Collector – Help facilitate a Business Intelligence Pilot program
